Sarah Penn’s DEAD WRONG Agenda

Her anti public health votes puts her Native American constituents at risk.

Penn has her own freedom of choice to not get vaccinated, but to rob others of the right to protect themselves and their communities from public health threats – is DEAD WRONG.

House District 33 is 54% Native American, covering most of the Wind River Reservation.

Historically, and presently, Native Americans are highly susceptible to infectious diseases.

Before vaccines became available and other protective measures were instituted, Native Americans in Wyoming accounted for nearly 32% of covid deaths although representing only about 2-3% of the state’s population.

“More than 32 percent of the state’s covid cases were among those identifying as American Indian as of Wednesday evening, despite making up less than 3 percent of the state’s population.” – Casper Star Tribune, June 25, 2020.

“Thirty-four Wyoming people have now died after contracting COVID-19 since the pandemic emerged here in March. Thirteen of them have been from Fremont County, which has been hit hardest among the state’s 23 counties. Most of Fremont County’s deaths have been members of the Northern Arapaho, one of the tribes on the Wind River Reservation.” – Casper Star Tribune, August 18, 2020.

During the covid pandemic the Reservation Tribes instituted strict virus mitigation protocols to protect its residents, including mask mandates and stay-at-home orders. Later, when vaccines became available, the reservation had the highest vaccination rate in the state, with over 70% of tribal members inoculated. These measures significantly reduced the rate of infections and deaths on the Reservation.

HER LEGISLATIVE RECORD

Sarah Penn, however, supports anti-public health legislation that puts her constituents – Native Americans on the Wind River Reservation – at risk.

  • Takes away the right of private businesses and public entities to regulate their premises for public health protection: HB59, 2024 & HB 66, 2023 – Prohibiting mask, vaccine and testing discrimination.

  • Puts 90+ politicians in the role of deciding what’s a public health emergency (not health professionals): HB 53, 2024 – Public health emergency-definition amendments.

  • Denies the authority of public health directives, guidance or recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control in Wyoming: HB91, 2024 – Health mandates-CDC and WHO jurisdiction in Wyoming.

  • Institutes invasive anti-vax prejudices requiring disclosure of private medical history, dictates medical practices and could put those needing blood at risk: HB 115, 2024 – Donated blood-mRNA disclosure.

  • Bans vaccinations to prevent or arrest the progress of smallpox: HB124 – Vaccination for smallpox-repeal.
